(1900-1974) Морс, Уэйн ЛайменПолитический деятель, юрист, получил прозвище "Одинокий ковбой" [ Lone Ranger]. В 1931-44 - профессор школы права Орегонского университета [ Oregon, University of]. В 1942-44 - член Национального управления труда военного времени [ National War Labor Board]. В 1944 избран в Сенат [ Senate, U.S.] как республиканец, в 1950 переизбран. Оказался поддерживать выдвижение Д. Эйзенхауэра [ Eisenhower, Dwight David (Ike)] и объявил себя независимым политиком. В 1955 стал членом Демократической партии [ Democratic Party] и дважды переизбирался в Сенат (в 1956 и 1962). Первоначально будучи критиком обструкции [ filibuster], в 1953 установил рекорд обструкции, выступая в течении 22 часов и 6 минут против принятия законопроекта о передачи штатам прав на нефтеносный шельф. Сенатор выступал против принятия Конгрессом "тонкинской резолюции" [ Tonkin Gulf Resolution] и войне во Вьетнаме [ Vietnam War], проиграл на выборах в 1968.
